Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about UK government energy grants
What energy grants am I eligible for?
Eligibility depends on your income, benefits, property type, and location. Common grants include the Warm Homes Plan (up to £15,000), Boiler Upgrade Scheme (£7,500 for heat pumps), ECO4 insulation grants (up to £10,000), and the Warm Homes Local Grant (up to £30,000). Use our free eligibility checker to find out which you qualify for.
Is the eligibility check really free?
Yes, our eligibility checker is completely free with no obligation. It takes around 2 minutes to complete and gives you an instant indication of which government grants you may qualify for.
What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) provides grants of up to £7,500 to help homeowners in England and Wales replace fossil fuel or electric heating with heat pumps. A £5,000 grant is also available for biomass boilers. The scheme runs until March 2028.
Do I need to be on benefits to qualify?
Not necessarily. While receiving benefits like Universal Credit or Pension Credit increases your chances, some schemes like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme have no income requirements. Other schemes accept households with an income below £31,000–£36,000 even without benefits.
When does the ECO4 scheme end?
ECO4 has been extended by 9 months and will now end on 31 December 2026. The UK government has confirmed that no successor supplier obligation scheme will follow ECO4. If you think you may be eligible for free insulation under ECO4, we recommend applying while funding is still available.
